Neighborhood Watch

Good Morning,

We’re in the process of setting up a list of Neighbourhood Watch members who are willing to volunteer their time to help out at community fairs and other events we’re invited to. If you’re interested in adding your name to this list, please contact the office. We’ll get in touch with you when there is an event in your area.

We’d like to thank everyone who has joined our new Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch website. We encourage everyone to create a group for your community or join an existing one. We also encourage you to spread the word about the site and your group with everyone in your address book, so we can all get more involved in making our neighbourhoods safe.

Home

We’re so proud of our new site that we’ve decided to start a contest to encourage members to join. Everyone who has joined our new website by the end of June will be entered into a draw to win a $50 Safeway gift card. We’ll randomly draw a name and will post the winner on our site. Let’s help grow our organization and help each other in crime prevention.

Emergency Preparedness Week is an annual, national event held this year from May 2 – 8. Here in Edmonton, the main objectives are showcasing Edmonton’s emergency community capabilities in responding to major emergencies, increasing awareness about individual emergency preparedness and encourage residents to be prepared in the event of major emergency so that we can all reduce the risks and lessen the consequences of disasters. Primary goals of emergency preparedness are taking care of yourself and your family for a minimum of three days (72 hours.) If a disaster happens in your community, it may take emergency workers some time to get to you as they help those in desperate need.

West LRT Update

City Council has approved a final conceptual design plan for the WLRT Lewis Estates-Downtown Corridor.  The approved plan does not incorporate any changes to the Jasper Place area from earlier drafts which were made available to the public.  The Glenwood CL is dissapointed that none of our recommendations regarding traffic flow, and business/residential access were incorporated in Council’s final decision. For more information, visit Edmonton.ca/LRTprojects

With this decision made, the League will be focusing it’s civic involvement on advancing the goals of the Jasper Place Revitalization Strategy, and pursuing a statutory land-use plan (Area Redevelopment Plan) for the Glenwood Community, in order to manage current and future redevelopment pressures.  We will be working closely with the West Edmonton Community Council and Jasper Place Revitalization Steering Committee on these efforts.

Corner Store Revitalization

Corner Store Revitalization Project Online Survey

Please fill in the survey at www.edmonton.ca/cornerstoreproject.
