EPS warns of Canada Revenue Agency scams

With tax season approaching, the Edmonton Police Service is warning citizens to beware of recent scams where fraudulent letters and emails that claim to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) are asking for personal information.

Crime Stoppers Youth program launched at two north Edmonton high schools

Save the Date! – 2014 Annual General Meeting on Sunday, April 13th

The meeting is OPEN to ALL residents of Glenwood – renters and owners of all ages.

Your executive will be treating you to BRUNCH at 10:30am, followed by the meeting at 11:30, inside the Glenwood Hall at 16430-97 Avenue (south of the Police Station and north of St. Thomas Moore and Westlawn schools.)

Come to hear from, and ask questions of, civic and provincial representatives whose work is affecting the health, safety and future of your neighbourhood – From infill development to graffiti and safe rental housing.

Please join us for our community league Annual General Meeting to find out what’s new in Glenwood!  Have your say about what’s happening with new buildings, programs for families, activities for seniors and anything else you are interested in.

That’s a wrap on another season of staking at the Glenwood hall. We will be searching for a rink attendant for next season. This is a paid position. If you’re interested in applying or learning more about the role – please send us an email at glenwoodcommunity@hotmail.com

The skating rink is finally open!  Many thanks to our awesome rink staff for their hard work in challenging weather conditions.

SKATING 7 DAYS A WEEK
Lace up your skates for a leisurely skate or bring your hockey gear and join in for some shinny hockey! Make sure you bring your skate tags.
FREE with membership, $2 per skate/person or $10 Skate Pass (for the season)

Skating Rink Hours –
5 – 9 PM Monday to Friday
12 – 9 PM Saturdays
12 – 6 PM Sundays

November/December Newsletter

The Glenwood Executive warmly invites you to welcome 2014 with your neighbors at the New Year’s Party at our own community hall !

See the details about the Party in the attached Newsletter.  A paper copy of the newsletter is currently being delivered to all the homes in our community.

Do you remember the Giant RV that was at our Party in the Park in September? Families with small children will be thrilled as we are now pleased to confirm that the EMU is coming to Glenwood early in 2014!
The EMU offers a play area in a cozy environment. The interactive 1 1/2 hour program includes circle and story time, play centres, and physical movement activities. Families visiting the EMU will have access to:
–        Reggio inspired learning approach
–        Oral language and literacy rich environment
–        Learning through play
–        Parental support in key areas
–        Services of a multi-disciplinary team including:

Speech-Language Pathologist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Behaviour Specialist, Adapted Physical Education Specialist, Family School Liaison Workers.

The program is for children 2 1/2 to 5 year olds, with their parents, and siblings are welcome to attend too.  We will be at Glenwood on Wednesday’s from Feb 12 – March 26. Our morning program runs from 9:30 -11:00 AM and our afternoon program runs from 1:00 – 2:30 PM. Register by calling 780.638.6810. Drop in from 11:15AM – 12:15 PM.

Protect your plates from thieves

The theft of license plates is a concern across the city. To help protect your vehicles, the Edmonton Police Service is giving out anti-theft, license plate screws for free. You can pick them up at the EPS west-division headquarters.

Glenwood Construction Projects

Watch for some construction at 163st/97ave and 100ave/165st, as crews are installing flashing amber pedestrian crossings. 

163st is also slated for pavement renewal from 95ave to Stony Plain Road, to be completed by August 31.

CEYC is the abbreviation for the City of Edmonton Youth Council.  It is a body within the City of Edmonton made up of young people between the ages of 13 and 23, with a mandate to advise City Council on youth-related issues…
