On Tuesday, November 30th, EPSB Trustees voted 7-2 for renewable two-year moratorium on school closures. 10 speakers also addressed the board in support of the motion (Glenwood’s presentation is below). This is an opportunity to work towards enhancing the viability of neighborhood schools in mature communities that we intend to take full advantage of.

Pawn Shop/Pay Day Loan Development Application
This past month the Glenwood CL received notice that a Development Permit has been approved for 10060-156st to change the current use from “General Retail” to Minor Second Hand Store (Pawn Shop) with an Accessory Professional, Financial and Office Support Service (Pay Day Loans). The notice and a map of the location are available below.
This application clearly runs contrary to the goals of the Jasper Place Revitalization and Stony Plain Road Business Revitalization Zone, and would likely be in violation of the Custom Commercial Overlay prescribed for future application on the Stony Plain Road corridor in the Jasper Place Revitalization Strategy. The league executive has filed an appeal and we are preparing for a hearing date before the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board on either the 14th, or 16th of December.
For more information check back here, or watch your email inbox if you are on the Glenwood mailing list.

The Glenwood League Executive has been active in the WLRT debate over the past year, and has decided to take that involvement in a new direction, as we will be pursuing an amendment to the West LRT Route. Where the current corridor has both tracks situated on Stony Plain Road, the league will be pursuing an alternative which would place one track on 100th Avenue and the other on Stony Plain Road. Watch our West LRT page for further updates and information.
